Dr Jill Armstrong
Bye Fellow and Researcher for Collaborating with Men Project
Murray Edwards College, University of Cambridge
Jill Armstrong is a Bye-Fellow at Murray Edwards College, University of Cambridge. Her research specialism is gender equality and inclusion within organisations. She leads and has authored two reports on the ‘Collaborating with Men’ research project that aims to ally with men to change workplace culture to be more inclusive. Jill is now working with 25 large organisations in the UK across the commercial, professional services and public sectors. Around 10,000 men and women are participating in a survey measuring men and women’s perspectives on gender stereotypical bias and everyday sexisms in workplace culture. The survey is followed by workshops designed to motivate and support workplace trials of actions identified by the research. Jill researches, writes, reviews and comments on inclusion and equality at work and advises on building sustainable networks of male gender allies. She runs a module on inclusivity for the Judge Business School in Cambridge and is regularly asked to speak at professional women’s network events, conferences and leadership courses.
Jill’s book based on her doctoral research – Like Mother, Like Daughter?: How career women influence their daughters’ ambition – was published in 2017. Academic research is the latest act in Jill’s career. Previously she was a founding Director of two successful commercial market research companies.
